The recently introduced Nimbra 320 paired with Nimbra 680 allows WIN
to provide robust IPTV Network to additional sites and territories
New Orleans (Telco TV) - Net Insight, a leading provider of efficient and
scalable transport solutions for media, IP and broadcast networks, today
announced that the Wisconsin Independent Network (WIN) and Midwest Video
Solutions, in which WIN has ownership, has expanded its IPTV network with Net
Insight's Nimbra platform.
WIN offers state-of-the-art fiber optic network and data center services in the
states of Wisconsin, Minnesota, Illinois and beyond. The first phase of the WIN
implementation used Net Insight Nimbra 680 switches to support its Ethernet and
IPTV networks. WIN recently ordered the Nimbra 320, Net Insight's new compact
solution for delivery of demanding media services to access locations. The
Nimbra 320 allows the WIN network to expand to additional sites and territories
while insuring 100 percent QoS and lossless routing for its IPTV network
distribution. Net Insight's efficient multicast capability allows highly
reliable video to share the same infrastructure as other premium services.
As part of the WIN expansion, Midwest Video Solutions provides digital
television services to communications providers. These services enable WIN's
members to offer robust IPTV services over their telecommunication networks to
their subscribers.
"The initial roll-out of our network with the Nimbra platform resulted in
immediate and overwhelmingly favorable results, making the decision to expand
with Net Insight a simple choice," said Scott Hoffman CEO of Wisconsin
Independent Network (WIN). "With the expansion, we are now able to extend our
territories and guarantee premium, high-quality services to our customers."
In phase one of the WIN project, Net Insight network measurements proved the
existing network infrastructure suffered highly-disruptive percent packet loss
on content delivery. With the Nimbra platform, this loss was reduced to zero
and WIN's network tiling and artifact issues disappeared immediately.
"With the expansion of WIN's IPTV network in the U.S., we are further
demonstrating the scalability of the Nimbra platform, as well as our dedication
to supporting our customers in all phases of their network build-out," said
Fredrik Trägårdh, CEO of Net Insight. "Our unique and sophisticated technology
continues to give our customers a competitive edge in delivering the highest
quality services the consumers demand."
