Delivering unified broadcasting for the 15th National Games of China
Net Insight powering NDT Group’s and PCCW Global’s services
The 15th National Games of China concluded after an extraordinary two-week celebration of athletic excellence and regional collaboration. Held from 9–21 November across Guangdong, Shenzhen, Hong Kong, and Macao, this edition marked the first time the Games were jointly hosted by four regions highlighting the growing cooperation throughout of the Greater Bay Area.
More than 14,000 athletes competed in over 30 sports, from swimming, football, and cycling to skateboarding and surfing. With hundreds of live events produced across Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Hong Kong, and Macao, bringing the regions together around a shared sporting moment.
To support this large-scale operation, four International Broadcast Centers (IBCs) were established. Guangzhou served as the main IBC, while Shenzhen, Hong Kong, and Macao operated as regional sub-centers, together forming a fully interconnected media transmission network across the Greater Bay Area.
Our channel partner NDT Group delivered the installation, systems integration and managed media services of the broadcast and transmission network, utilizing JPEG XS, providing venue connectivity, and a comprehensive suite of 4K distribution equipment. NDT Group provided those services with Net Insight’s Nimbra media delivery platform. Their technical teams worked closely with the Organizing Committee and regional authorities to secure seamless live coverage throughout the Games.
At the same time, our customer PCCW Global provided the managed services including JPEG XS, JPEG2000, MPEG-4, HEVC video compression, data connection and internet services from the event venues to both the Hong Kong and Guangzhou IBCs. They also handled the pickup of final produced feeds from the Guangzhou IBC for primary distribution to broadcasters in Hong Kong over their Global TV Network (GTVN) and Console Connect Live — all powered by the Nimbra and Nimbra Edge platforms.
